First American is seeking a Sr. Report Writer to develop reports using a variety of software applications, dependent on business domain. Reporting to the Manager of Data and Analytics, the incumbent must understand business requirements and data base technology as well as have familiarity with project management and methodology. Job Summary: •Responsible for both conceiving and writing necessary reports – develop new reports as needed/requested by management to provide timely and accurate information to decision makers.•Perform maintenance and necessary revisions to existing reports.•Work with the Manager and report requestors to evaluate and clarify requests. Evaluate uniqueness of data, offer alternative solutions where applicable, including non-automated reporting.•Must understand business requirements and data base technology. Must be familiar with project management and methodology. •Designs, develops, and implements customized tables, queries, and reports. •Gathers information about report needs, objectives, functions, features, and input/output requirements, assure that specifications are complete and accurate.•Develop reports, graphs and presentations of operations and projects that yield results that should be easily transformed into dashboards.•Maintain an accurate inventory of requested reports and applicable modifications •Responsible for monitoring the performance of reports and taking corrective action to optimize or improve the performance of the reports when necessary.•Participate in application validation and QA efforts as they pertain to reporting, data, metrics, and report creation and execution.Essential Functions: •Designs, develops, and implements customized tables, queries, and reports.•Elicit, document, and analyze reporting needs and requirements. Analyze data and reporting solutions to understand business impact, correlations/discrepancies, and to propose changes/alternate solutions.•Extract existing data to manipulate/calculate/format into presentable reports, charts, and graphs.•Create enhancements to existing reports.•Researches new reporting methods, processes, and tools.•Coordinates with other departments and customer to revise current reports and ensure that business requirements are designed into new reports.•Analyze and resolve issues with integration and management of data.•Perform basic statistical analysis for reports and projects.•Perform ad hoc analytical requests and research special projects for internal parties.
