Measure distances, directions, and angles between points on, above, and below the Earth's surface. Locate known survey reference points and determine the precise location of important features in the survey area using specialized equipment. Field Technicians also research legal records, look for evidence of previous boundaries, and analyze data to determine the location of boundary lines.
Experience with conventional surveying, robotic total stations, and RTK GPS equipment is required. Experience and familiarity with Trimble equipment is beneficial. Candidate must be able to work independently to perform survey fieldwork. Must have an understanding of plats and worksheet comprehension, data collector use (including file transfer) setting property corners.
This role requires regular interaction with the entire surveying team including research, CAD Technicians, other field personnel and project managers. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required.
Essential Functions
- Proficient in operating robotic and GPS surveying equipment
- Taking and delivering quality field notes that will enable the drafter and Surveyor to be able to produce an accurate survey.
- Help locate and identify all relevant documentation and improvements required to provide the necessary amount of control to establish positional tolerance
- Help maintain and operate all vehicle, surveying instruments, computers, and any other tool designed to help produce the surveys.
- Align daily work with differing project scopes and critical deadlines
Minimum Requirements:
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
- Must be able to interpret directions from management
- Must be able to understand survey requirements based on ALTA Standards
- Must be able to work independently
- Must meet physical requirements needed to complete large-scale ALTA
- Ability to provide organized field notes
Knowledge and Skills/Technology Used
- Highly proficient in mathematics and measurements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- MS Office Software skills
- Analytical review skills
- Strong project planning skills

- Job specific training and history of continued work in the same field.
Typical Range of Experience
- Preferably 5 years.
