The Senior Data Engineer is the Decision Sciences data subject matter expert who plays a leading role in the design, development and deployment of data assets and resources to leverage the company’s vast data assets for Decision Sciences. Works closely with Decision Sciences and other First American functional teams to spec, build, deploy and support data assets necessary for Decision Sciences work. This role further works closely with other functions/teams to ensure that optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing Decision Sciences projects.
Essential Functions:
- Big data subject matter expert for Decision Sciences
- Design/architect, build, test, deploy, monitor and maintain new data/ETL pipelines for Decision Sciences R&D
- Analyze, automate and optimize legacy data/ETL pipelines
- Assess and ensure integrity of data for data pipelines
- Competent to work independently at a high technical level
- Work closely with team members and cross-functional teams to ensure availability, accuracy and integrity of required data assets and resources
- Proactively engage Decision Sciences and other stakeholders to achieve objectives
Knowledge and Skills
- Proficient in SQL, Snowflake, AWS and Python
- Proficient in DevOps tools such as GitLab/GitHub/Azure DevOps
- Substantial experience building data pipelines, ETL pipelines and data warehousing and working with large datasets
- Demonstrated expertise in data governance, data modeling, and data integrity
- AWS/Azure certified preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-driven team player with ability to work independently, multi-task and innovatively solve problems
Education:
- Masters in Computer Science or equivalent discipline
Experience
- 5-7 years’ experience with data/ETL pipelines, large-scale and complex data resources and assets
