First American is looking to add a Sr. Commercial Title Assistant to our growing team. FA sets the standard for excellence in the commercial real estate space. In this role, you will work in a dynamic, fast-paced setting supporting our Commercial Title team in a wide range of duties including creating and maintaining title files and documenting and recording all research. This position administratively supports timely escrow closings and title recordings for transactions ranging from single site to high-liability multi-site commercial real estate transactions. You will play a key role in coordinating the resolution and completion of the commercial title process. We are open to remote for out-of-area candidates.Essential Functions
- Support Closers/Transaction Managers with closing commercial real estate transactions by assisting with administering escrow accounts, making deposits, issuing checks, building and disbursing wires, preparing invoices, routing title comments and underwriting requests, ordering title and tax updates, and assembling and calculating pricing information, recording fees and transfer tax information
- Searches, examines and interprets real estate documents such as deeds, deeds of trust, assignments and reconveyances, subdivision maps, assessor parcel maps, moderately complex metes and bounds legal descriptions, section and lot and block from direct base working directly with title officer, marketing and escrow team
- Uses research to create and maintain files, records and reports
- Audits calculations and legal documents for accuracy
- Communicates recording information and prepares legal property documents such as endorsements and supplementals
- Communicates professionally with all customers
Knowledge and Skills/Technology Used
- Strong time management skills
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Familiarity with several office software packages which include word processing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics and desktop publishing applications
- Fluency in company operating systems (i.e., FAST proprietary title and escrow platform)
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Must be able to maintain professionalism and a positive service attitude at all times
- Strong detail orientation
- High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
- 3+ years prior real estate experience as paralegal or assistant in law firm or national commercial title and closing operation in the title industry
Pay Range: $22.80-$30.38 Hourly
This position is eligible for bonus pay and/or incentives for production or other goals.
This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
