We are seeking an experienced Senior Title Officer with a strong background in supporting homebuilders, developers, and land bankers. This role requires expertise in resolving complex title issues, managing multistate transactions, and serving as a trusted resource for customers throughout the development and closing process. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates deep technical title knowledge, and brings a customer-first mindset to building long-term relationships.Key Responsibilities
Customer Interaction & Advisory
- Serve as the primary title resource for homebuilders, developers, and land bankers, addressing title issues and guiding them through the closing process.
- Partner closely with customers to anticipate challenges and provide proactive solutions that keep projects moving forward.
- Participate in customer visits, builder meetings, and land banker discussions to support business growth and strengthen partnerships.
Title Examination & Problem-Solving
- Examine and resolve a wide range of title issues, including platting processes, plat letters, and lot takedowns.
- Review records such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, surveys, and maps to confirm ownership and identify restrictions.
- Apply knowledge of mechanic’s liens and their impact on builder/developer transactions.
Multistate Expertise
- Provide title support across multiple states, with preference for experience in Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Maryland, and Washington and beyond.
- Adapt processes to meet jurisdictional requirements and deliver consistent, high-quality service across markets.
Underwriting Support & Growth
- Work closely with underwriters and provide guidance on complex transactions.
- Support underwriting interpretation within established guidelines, while pursuing opportunities to expand underwriting knowledge and expertise.
Documentation & Review
- Review and approve deeds, trusts, corporate resolutions, operating agreements, wills, affidavits, proformas and other transactional documents.
- Select appropriate write-ups for commitments and policies, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with sales teams in business development activities and support existing client relationships.
- Collaborate with state and regional underwriters to streamline processes, ensure efficiency, and celebrate shared success.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced training or certification preferred.
- 5–7 years of directly related title experience, with significant exposure to builder/developer transactions.
- Strong knowledge of platting, lot takedowns, and land development processes.
- Demonstrated experience with multistate title practices, especially in FL, TX, TN, VA, AZ, CO, NV, MD, WA.
- Knowledge of mechanic’s lien laws and their impact on title.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to resolve unique and complex title issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service orientation.
- Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Proven ability to build trust and long-term partnerships with homebuilders, developers, and land bankers.
Pay Range: $72,125 – $96,125 annually
This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
