What We Do

Provides underwriting expertise and support to company personnel, agents, and customer(s), related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies. Utilizes underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits, to underwrite the issuance of title insurance and provide guidance in the performance of real estate settlement services. Develops and retains a commercial agent and customer client base.

What You’ll Do 

  • Act in a senior capacity with a national footprint for providing underwriting service and support to agents and direct division personnel involved in residential and commercial transactions.
  • May be an individual contributor or have direct reports.
  • Utilizes underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits to underwrite the issuance of title insurance.
  • Develops and maintains effective business relationships with assigned agents, internal and other external customers to attract, develop and retain profitable business for the Area/State.
  • Responsible for communicating information related to underwriting and real estate settlement services to team.
  • Responsible for monitoring state law and recommending practice changes to management.
  • Retain and expand Agency and Direct Division relationships throughout national market by assessing the agents’ potential for growth in the designated market and serving their underwriting needs.
  • Use underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits to underwrite the issuance of title insurance and provide guidance in the performance of real estate settlement services.
  • Communicate proactively with and respond to internal and external customers in a timely manner.
  • Is highly visible in assigned marketing area by attending real estate industry functions and participating in community and real estate events.
  • Prepare and present materials intended for education, training and awareness to industry professionals, agents, and customers.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

  • Law Degree required.
  • Licensed to practice law in state within region, in good standing.
  • Recommended 7-12+ years title underwriting experience.
  • Must be familiar with real estate law.
  • Excellent understanding of concepts, practices and procedures of real estate titles and closing.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to real estate title insurance and settlement services.
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to lead others in effectively implementing programs and projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and analyze problems, identify, and drive appropriate solutions, and achieve desired results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to multi-task, prioritize, timely respond and work under pressure.
  • Ability to build relationships and create rapport.
  • Requires abstract thinking and creative solutions.
  • Ability to ‘think outside the box’ and make unique yet sound decisions to resolve complex issues.
  • Exercises confidence, sound judgment and decision making.

Pay Range: $118,600 - $197,700 Annual

This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting.  Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
