Essential Functions
- Identifies, evaluates, communicates, and manages title insurance risk associated with a single technology feature, product, or product line.
- Executes the underwriting vision and strategy for a single technology feature, product, or product line.
- Participates in planning meetings and product strategy discussions.
- Assesses market competition by cultivating knowledge of competitor products to identify gaps, competitive threats, and competitive advantages.
- Provides underwriting, title insurance, and real estate conveyancing subject matter expertise to product manager(s), designer(s), researcher(s), and engineer(s).
- Translates complex title insurance and real estate concepts into clear ideas accessible to product team members in ways that influence product strategy.
- Translates complex technology product concepts into clear ideas accessible to transaction underwriters in ways that influence transaction underwriting protocol.
- Executes tasks and assignments on the product roadmap.
- Provides input to the product development team for product evolution and priorities.
Job Complexities
- Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
- Has some latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions.
Supervision Received or Extended
- Works with some independence, setting own priorities and objectives, in consultation with product manager.
- Receives assignments and prioritizes own tasks as part of a technology team’s work pathways.
Education
- Law Degree Required
- Admitted to law practice in manner appropriate for the position and location.
Typical Experience
- 1-3 years of experience as product counsel to a technology team; or 5-7 years of title underwriting or real estate law practice experience and demonstrated aptitude for the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Technology
- Strong verbal and visual communication skills.
- Strong understanding of land titles, real estate law, and conveyancing process.
- Strong understanding of federal and state laws related to title insurance and settlement services.
- Basic understanding of Agile, Lean, and UX principles.
- Some technical aptitude (e.g., novice-level understanding of at least one software engineering language).
- Business acumen and strategic agility that influences outcomes and successfully negotiates for resources.
The pay range for this role is $95,350.00 - $127,125.00
This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
